Kathmandu, Pokhara and Jomsom Excursion - 8 days

Beginning the exploration of cultural heritages in Kathmandu, the trip covers the unbelievable marvels of Pokhara. The key highlight of the trip is an excursion to Jomsom, which is a doorway to the legendary mountain kingdom- Mustang. This tour covers the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the unique cities Kathmandu and Patan. The guided tour to these regal Hindu and Buddhist shrines and historical courtyards in the form of Durbar Squares will provide you an insight into the rich culture, tradition and religious beliefs of Nepal. As the tour continues to Pokhara, the nature gets even more beautiful with varieties of natural wonders. Crystal clear Fewa Lake with an image of Mt. Fishtail on it, is the thing no visitor in Pokhara would like to miss. Deep narrow caves, fabled fall- Davis falls, hidden Seti River in the gorges and grandiose Himalayan views are the other highlights of Pokhara.

A thirty minute flight from Pokhara to Jomsom will land you at a different world. On the foothills of gargantuan Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks banked by the Kali Gandaki River, lies Jomsom, a place hallowed with superb natural beauty. No doubt the excursion around Jomsom in the Kali Gandaki Valley will root a completely new perspective of Nepal deeply within you. Jomsom, the doorway to the legendary kingdom beyond Himalayas, once used to serve as a major trade route in the Himalayas for the Tibetan and Nepali traders, and almost all the old salt caravans used to pass through it. Culturally Jomsom resemble the Tibetan culture. The glorified tour filled with great diversity ends once you return back to Kathmandu and explore the remaining heritage sites of the valley.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to hotel (1400m)

As you enter Nepal on a clear day, it is an electrifying experience to be welcomed by the panoramic view of snowcapped mountain ranges sprawling around, before you land in Kathmandu. A representative and driver from TAGnepal will meet and greet you at the airport. They will escort you to your designated hotel and help in your check-in procedure and will brief you about the trip beginning the next day.

Day 02: Sightseeing tours of Boudhanath, Pashupatinath & Patan

After your breakfast, you will be guided to a full day sightseeing tour to the world heritage sites of Kathmandu Valley, namely Bouddhanath Stupa, the largest and the oldest Buddhist stupa in Nepal; Pashupatinath, a mega Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva; and Patan or Lalitpur (the City of Artisans), which is 5 km away from Kathmandu. You will walk through Patan Durbar Square, and delight in the architectural wonders of Malla era. Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple and Golden Temple are the major attractions of the square.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara; and evening boating on Fewa lake (827m)

After your breakfast, you will drive to Pokhara (200 km), via Prithivi Highway. The journey will lead you through the winding road, valleys, rivers and sporadic settlements typical of any hilly regions of Nepal. After 5-6 hours’ drive, you will reach Pokhara, “the City of Lakes”.  Pokhara nestled on the lap of Mt. Machhapuchre, is the city of outstanding beauty. You will release all the exhaustion of a daylong travel by boating on the Phewa lake in the evening and basking in the spectacular view of legendary Mt. Machhapuchre, “Fishtail”.

Day 04: Fly to Jomsom (2743 m) and Explore Jomsom

An early flight will take you to Jomsom in about 20 minutes. The flight unfolds you some of the rarest views of the Himalayas and the wonderful settlements nestling on the foothills. Jomsom lies in the Annapurna Circuit, a world-class trekking trail. The place resembling to the Tibetan highland desert is a gateway to Mustang, the ancient kingdom beyond the Himalayas. After reaching there, you will hike down to Marpha village (2560m). You will trek for about 3 hours through a flat trail to reach the village.

Day 05: Excursion around Jomsom

Marpha (2650m) lies in the Kali Gandaki valley. The village offers you an opportunity to savor the delightful culture and life style of Thakali people who are known for their entrepreneurship and hospitality. At the same time you will also feel welcomed by the Himalayan vista combined with the delightful view of apple orchards. Marpha village is a compact settlement of thatched roof houses and stone paved alleys crisscrossing each other. So, your village exploration is sure to add thrill and excitement to your whole trip.

Day 06: Fly to Pokhara, Sightseeing in Pokhara

Today you will fly back to Pokhara. You will have a guided sightseeing tour of the city. Your trip takes you to the mythological Davis fall, deep gorges of Seti River and Tibetan Refugee Camp. You even get to explore the deep-seated mysteries of captivating cave Mahendra Gupha. At the end of the day, you will be welcomed at your hotel where you can drain out the exhaustion of your day.

Day 07: Fly to Kathmandu and Sightseeing in Kathmandu/ Farewell Cultural Dinner

A thirty-minute morning flight to Kathmandu airport might be your best moment in the air with the bountiful savoring views of mesmerizing Manaslu and snowcapped Annapurna mountain range. At Kathmandu airport you will once again enjoy the cordial welcome by our representative. After some relaxation, you will stroll to Kathmandu Darbar Square via Ason tole, one of the busiest and most fascinating squares of the city. Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the three medieval palace squares of the Kathmandu valley enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Square treasures the art and architecture that date back to more than 500 years. As the place vividly presents the magnificent repertoire of craftsmanship, it is rightly called as the most impressive landmark of Kathmandu.

Day 08: Depart from Kathmandu

Finally your fun filled trip will come to an end. Your tour officer and a driver will be at your hotel reception to pick you up three and half hours prior to your departure. You will be transferred to the airport for your international flight back home.
