Kathmandu, Nagarkot and Pokhara - 6 days

This trip starts with the cultural insights of Kathmandu Valley that showcase the Golden Age of Nepali medieval art and architecture within the widely scattered area of the valley. Beside the cultural junket, the trip also takes you to explore the magnificent wonders of nature. You start with the golden view of the wide range of Himalayas glittering during sunset and sunrise from Nagarkot. The trip also offers an opportunity to experience hiking in the woody trials of Nepali mid-hills. The journey continues towards the beautiful city of Pokhara, through the snaky Prithivi Highway. As you enter the “City of Lakes”, your eyes will be wide open to witness the unique and majestic Mt. Fishtail standing in front of you dominating the skies. Pokhara offers the extreme natural wonders with deep verdant lakes, supernatural caves, narrow river gorges, scary falls, magnificent hill-tops and the most importantly imposing views of the great Himalayas. After all these beautiful moments in the most beautiful cities of Nepal, your trip will come to an end.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)

As you enter Nepal on a clear day, it is an electrifying experience to be welcomed by the panoramic view of snowcapped mountain ranges sprawling around, before you land in Kathmandu. A representative and driver from TAGnepal will meet and greet you at the airport. They will escort you to your designated hotel and help in your check-in procedure and will brief you about the trip beginning the next day.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu, Patan/Bhaktapur

After your breakfast, there will be a full day guided sightseeing tour to the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Valley, namely Bouddhanath Stupa, the largest and the oldest Buddhist stupa in Nepal; Pashupatinath, a mega Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva which is particularly famous for Hindu funeral rite; and Patan or Lalitpur (City of Artisans), which is 5 km away from Kathmandu. You will walk through Patan Durbar Square, and delight in the architectural wonders of Malla era. Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple and Golden Temple are the major attractions of the square.

Alternately, you will be driven to Bhaktapur, “City of Devotees”, 12 km south-east of Kathmandu. Bhaktapur is the smallest of the three valley cities. However, it is incomparable for its impressive art and architecture. Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site is an open museum of the Golden Age of Nepali art and architecture. The Nyatapol & Dattaraya Temples, Golden Gate, Palace of 55 windows etc are the finest examples of sculpture, woodcarving and pagodas.

Day 03: Drive to Sankhu and trek to Nagarkot (2195m) via Changu Narayan

Today, you will start your hike from Sankhu, a Newar village towards the east of Kathmandu. You will reach the hike starting point after 1.5 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. This hike offers you the best chances to explore the neighboring area of Kathmandu Valley. Sankhu is famous for Bajrayogini temple and Saali Nadi, a small river of religious significance that is thronged with devotees during the month of January/February. A 3-4 hours’ hike from Shankhu will lead you to Nagarkot via Changu Narayan temple on a hilltop overlooking Sankhu village to the right, Bhaktapur to the left and Kathmandu in the front. The temple of Changu Narayan dedicated to Lord Vishnu, one of the trinities of Hindu pantheon, is chronicled as the oldest temple found in Nepal. From there you will continue your journey to Nagarkot (2195m), another mesmerizing viewpoint. After the day long hike, Nagarkot will welcome you with a breathtaking sunset view.

Day 04: Sun rise and Drive to Pokhara; and evening boating on Fewa Lake (827m)

Today you will feast your eyes with one of the most fascinating sunrise views from Nagarkot. The golden rays of sun on the pearly mountain range is a rewarding lifetime experience. On a clear morning, you can spot Mt. Everest (8848m), Dorje Lakpa (6988m), Lantang Lirung (7219m), Gauri Shanker (7145m), Ganesh Himal (6704m) etc well as the Kathmandu valley below. After the scenic feast, you will be driven to Pokhara (200 km), via Prithivi Highway. The journey will lead you through the winding road, valleys, rivers and sporadic settlements typical of any hilly region of Nepal. After 5-6 hours’ drive, you will reach Pokhara, “the City of Lakes”. You will release all the exhaustion of a daylong travel by boating on Phewa Lake and basking in the spectacular view of legendary Mt. Machhapuchre, “Fishtail”.

Day 05: Sightseeing in Pokhara and fly to Kathmandu

Pokhara, a city nestled on the lap of Mt. Machhapuchre, is the city of outstanding beauty. You will have a guided sightseeing tour of the city. Your trip takes you to the mythological Davis fall, deep gorges of Seti River and Tibetan Refugee Camp. You even get to explore the deep-seated mysteries of captivating cave Mahendra Gupha. After the sightseeing, a thirty-minute afternoon flight will bring you back to Kathmandu. The flight might be your best moment in the air with savoring views of mesmerizing Manaslu and snowcapped Annapurna mountain range. At Kathmandu airport, you will once again enjoy the cordial welcome by our representative.

Day 06: Early morning mountain flight and fly back to Home

Your day starts with a scenic mountain flight, which is sure to offer you one of the best aerial views of the Himalayan panorama including Mount Everest (8848m), Shisa Pangma (8013m), Gauri Shanker (7134m), Melungtse (7023m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Pumori (8171m), Nuptse (7855m), Lhotse (8516m) & Amadablam (6856m), Langtang (7234m), Gosainthan (8013m), DorjeLakpa (6975m) and GauriShankar (7134m) to name a few. However, for this treat you need to wake up a little bit early and depart from your hotel to the airport. The flight will take about 30-45 minutes depending upon the weather. After you return from mountain flight, you will have your breakfast; or you can take packed breakfast also before the flight. Finally, your fun filled trip will come to an end. If you have some time before your departure time, you can stroll down the streets and do some shopping. Your tour officer and a driver will be at your hotel reception to pick you up three and half hours prior to your departure. You will be transferred to the airport for your international flight back home.
