Early morning you will be served with hearty breakfast in your hotel room. Then as per your flight timetable to Lukla, you will be transferred to airport in a private vehicle. Thirty minutes’ flight to Lukla is one of the most thrilling flights. Especially the landing is a sheer adventure as just before landing at Lukla airport the plane flies down to a deep gorge, and with then shrieking its tyres on the black-pitched air strips beginning at the ridge of the cliff, winds to the wide open airport. As you check out from Lukla airport, your trek guide will take your total care. He will brief you about the trek which will be starting in few minutes. You will be trekking along the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding. It is a short trek of 2-3 hours to begin your trekking adventure. The first day trek is designed to familiarize you with the trekking trials and the culture associated with it.
Day 03: Trek to Namche (3450m)
Early morning after the breakfast at your tea house at Phakding you will resume your trek. Your lunch will be served at one of the tea houses on the way. From Phakding, the trial continues north up the Dudh Koshi valley. The trial follows an amusing course alongside the Dudh Koshi river then climbs to the village of Chumao. Passing the interspersed villages with magnificent woods of rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs; the trail sharply descends to big valley of Monjo and at this point the trek enters into Sagarmatha National Park. Beyond the park entrance, the trial makes a steep rock-strewn descent to a large farm and at a short distance you will arrive at Jorsale village (2850m). From Jorsale after several steep descents and ascents you will finally come into the Sherpa capital Namche (3450m).
Day 04: Acclimatization day
You will have a rest day today. Namche is a live amphitheater of Sherpa culture of Khumbu region. Perched on the slopes of crescent shaped hills, Namche is the busiest stopover of the whole region with a wide array of shops, restaurants, hotels, lodges and communication centers. You can explore the town and the surrounding vicinity. You can also visit Khunde Hospital established by Sir Edmund Hillary, or walk uphill to have the mesmerizing sunset view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest.
Day 05: Trek to Tengboche (3876m)
After your breakfast at your tea house, you will commence the day’s trek along the diagonal trial until it brings you to the conglomerated huge rocks dividing the trial to Khumjung and Khumde. However, you slide down to the bridge and cross over it to Phunki (3250m). The distinctive prayer wheels continually rotated around by water offers a worthwhile halt for closer look. You will resume the trek along the long uphill climbing trial through the evergreen forests full of colorful flowers including rhododendron (during spring). The entire experience is blissful with the pleasant aroma of wild flowers when the wind changes its direction. Finally, the trial brings you to an awe-inspiring verdant plateau of Tengboche (3876m). Historical and sacred Tengboche monastery with a remarkable view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Ama Dablam on its background is a perfect reward to you upon reaching Tengboche.
Day 06: Trek to Periche (4243m)
After the early morning feast on a breakfast table, the trek once again hits the Himalayan trial along the forest and through the yaks grazed pastures and goes beyond 4000m. At the horizon, the Everest summit girt by the majestic rock palisades of Nuptse and Lhotse seems exceptionally terrific. Passing by the spring continuing downhill, the trial brings you to Gompa of Devoche (3757m), settlements of Milingo (3820m) then to a bridge over Imja Khola at 3780m. The short upward climb brings you to the monastery of Pangboche (3985m), the monastery claiming to own scalp and hand of legendary Yeti. After exploring the monastery, the trek sets out again crossing a saddle, along a plain straight trial to the paddocks of Tsuro Og (4135m). Climbing up a slanting trial nearby the confluence of Imja and Lobuche Khola and slightly descending down to cross a bridge over Lobuche Khola, your eyes will strike over a village set in mountainous plain- Welcome to Periche (4243m)!
Day 07: Pheriche-Acclimatization hike/Rest Day
Today is a rest day for proper acclimatization before the trekking trial hits towards even higher places like Gorakshep, Kalapattar and Everest Base Camp. You can utilize the rest day exploring the nearby vicinities or you can simply let go your exhaustion resting at your room.
Day 08: Trek to Lobuche (4920m)
Today you will be having a short trekking day. However, the trek involves quite a climb bringing you up to the glacial world with closer peak views of several Himalayan giants. You will begin the trek with a gentle climb passing the summer huts of shepherds at Phulung Karpo (4343m) and continue climbing along the moraine till you get across the crest. You will descend down to Dughla (4620m), and then keep on climbing on the left to the foothill of Khumbu glacier. Passing the commemorative inscription of Sherpa climbers and then entering to the morainal valley on the left of the glacier, the trial continues until it brings you to the field with few houses at Lobuche (4920m).
Day 09: Trek to Gorakshep, climb Kalapathar (5545m) and back to Gorakshep
Gorakshep is just 300 meters upward climb from Lobuche. The early morning start of the trek will quickly take you to Gorakshep. Gorakshep is a common vantage point to climb Kalapattar and trek to Everest Base Camp. The climb of Kalapattar is one of the rewards of this trip. The steep climb up the grassy slopes improvises the surrounding view as you climb higher to the top of Kalapattar. Kalapattar in Nepali refers to black rock. The place offers a telescopic view of Everest and other Himalayan peaks as a scientific telescope is also placed there. Kalapattar is a unique vantage point providing the most elegant view of Everest including the entire South Col and Lho La pass between Nepal and Tibet. Feasting your eyes at Kalapattar, you will slide down back to Gorakshep.
Day 10: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5380m)
With the dawn break you will resume your trek. Trek to Everest Base Camp from Gorakshep is three hours’ trip. Following the Khumbu glacier- sometimes the moraine glacier and at the other times the glacier itself, you will enjoy the view of captivating and peculiar 15m-high-seracs of ice on the trial. The Base Camp is a wide base from which the Khumbu giants have erected. Though you can’t view Everest from here, the place gives you a tranquil spectacle. Upon reaching the Base Camp, you will pitch your tent for expedition.
