Everest Expedition Team 2016 at Tingri, just a Stop ahead of Base Camp!
TAGnepal Everest Expedition 2016 team is at Tingri (4300m), just one stop ahead of Base Camp. The members are to stay at Tingri for three days. While in their stay, they are practicing “climb high and sleep low”, a process for acclimatization. Though it sounds like a cliche, it is a very necessary precautionary step to be safe from altitude health hazards or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). In the meantime, they will be visiting some areas of local interest as well. Well, if they are lucky then they can spot some wildlife like gazelle, onager and Tibetan brown bear amidst the spectacular wilderness during their stay and trek.
Tingri borders with the Himalayas to its south and covers approximately 14,000 square kilometers. The major highlights of the place are Rongbuk monastery, the world’s highest monastery and the awe-inspiring panorama of world’s four prominent mountains over 8,000m namely Mt. Everest (also known as Qomolangma), Makalu, Cho Oyo and Lhotse (four of the six tallest peaks in the world).
Tingri serves as a gate way to Mt Everest (North side) both for the trekkers to Base Camp and the climbers alike. Tingri offers some of the best lifetime memories to treasure. Our team will depart from Tingri to Base Camp on 20th April via Rongbuk Monastery. So far, everything is running smoothly and our members are in their best spirit! Good Luck Team TAG!
